It was a grand affair, with an exquisite buffet lunch, a pleasant time of relaxed fellowship, an uplifting musical concert by a talented group of young people, and some entertaining fun and games. The excellent arrangements were made by the intrepid and creative Heidi Myers. Most members wore seasonal attire. Many of our members shared stories of their best or worst holiday gift. It was a wonderful time to share in the magic of the holiday season.
As usual, the fun and games were planned and led by PP Don Myers who assigned two teams to compete in zany and hilarious activities. First, two tall men (good sports indeed) were selected to be wrapped in red and white toilet tissue to resemble a candy cane. After a time limit, the best result was picked by the attendees via applause. The two men were Andy Petro and first-time guest (of Kory Kalahar) Sean Fitzgerald, new CFO of Wenatchee School District.
The second game required a victim to wear a pair of red "long-john" underwear, which was then stuffed with balloons blown up by team members. After a time limit, the number of balloons were counted as they were popped with a pin. One of the teams won both games.
On a more serious note, the traditional collection was taken up for the Salvation Army. Thank you, Wenatchee Rotary Club, for the $1,094 in monetary donations. This is in addition to the toys that were also donated.

ALLAN'S ACCIDENT. Our club treasurer, Allan Galbraith, experienced a life-threatening accident last week. Allan's report: "We are remodeling, and I was painting the top 12' our 30'ceiling from a scaffold which I access from 12' Ladder. When I began the transfer from the ladder to the scaffold the bottom of the ladder slipped out sending ladder and me to the floor. All the ribs on my back right side are fractured, some in 2 places. My sternum and 1st left were also fractured. Today the Drs discovered the coratoid process of right scapula was fractured, impinging a nerve which caused tremendous nonlocalized pain in the entire right arm. I am getting a third chest tube to drain the blood releasing into my chest cavity. I think I am getting 3 ribs screwed together on Monday. Thank God for drugs!"
We will keep members informed of ways to support Allan during his recovery.
