WEEK IN REVIEW -  NOVEMBER 07
       THE ROTARY FOUNDATION (TRF)
With Dan Rodgers, Committee Chair

The meeting was opened by President Mike Kintner, who made or allowed the announcements below before introducing speaker Dan Rodgers (Financial Adviser with Edward Jones Co,) who chairs our TRF Committee.

Dan spoke about the many great things TRF does with funds donated by Rotarians worldwide, and encouraged all to become SUSTAINING MEMBERS by giving $100 per year.  TRF was named the world's best foundation in 2016 by Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP).   Listen to Dan's presentation.

Since it was founded more than 100 years ago, the Foundation has spent more than $4 billion on life-changing, sustainable projects.  With your help, we can make lives better in your community and around the world.  The mission of The Rotary Foundation of Rotary International is to enable Rotarians to advance world understanding, goodwill, and peace through the improvement of health, the support of education, and the alleviation of poverty.  Rotary is dedicated to six areas of focus to build international relationships, improve lives, and create a better world to support our peace efforts and end polio forever.

  1. Promoting Peace
  2. Fighting Disease
  3. Providing Clean Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene
  4. Saving Mothers and Children
  5. Supporting Education
  6. Growing Local Economies
Dan gave excellent examples of each of these areas.   Listen to Dan's presentation

Thanks to Ashley Gillum for this week's photos.

Just so ‘ya know…#24 - Community Outreach

Auction 2020 is fast approaching.  What are you considering giving and/or soliciting for the auction?  Wenatchee Rotary’s Auction 2020 goal is $120,000.  We can do it, but we all need to contribute whenever, whatever, and however.  If asked, say, “Yes!”  If not asked, volunteer!

The possibilities are endless.  Can you join with other Rotarians to  host a dinner party?  Do you have access to a vacation destination?  Is a vintage bottle of wine lingering in your cellar just waiting to be auctioned? We have decided to donate a signed limited edition pen and ink drawing of a Native American warrior by Richard D. Harris entitled “Well Worn Path.”

Capitol One commercials are famous for “What’s in your wallet?"
This Auction 2020 season ours should be “What’s in your closet?”

Having fun in Rotary,
Joe St.Jean
