These talks are a cornerstone to our Rotary club and provide a great way to connect with each other. You will not want to miss learning about one of our newer members.

Program of December 22:
ROTARY YOUTH EXCHANGE (RYE)
Led by Brett Riley, Chair,
Youth Service Committee, with
Rosario Muñoz, from Chile
and two special guests
Rosario is halfway through her exchange year, attending Wenatchee High School. She spoke confidently and lovingly about her country and her family back in home Chile. She talked of her favorite places and things, using two videos and a PowerPoint.
RYE Weekend in the Snow - Silver Star Rotary, Vernon, BC.
Rosario reported having great fun on her recent event in Canada for all district inbound RYE students. Earlier she enjoyed boating and mountain biking.
Other Youth Exchange guests.
OUTGOING RYE STUDENT. Bailey Wood, Wenatchee High School junior, will be heading to Brazil for her Rotary exchange for the 2023-2024 Rotary year.
She explained her excitement and apprehensions.
PP Don Myers introduced their exchange student from 2004, Axana Isenberg, who has become like part of the family. She arrived at age 17, and here she is, 17 years later, on a visit from her home in Germany.
IMAGINE ROTARY MOMENT. A quote from PDG Chris Offer in D5040. Chris is currently the Chair for The Rotary Foundation Peace Centers Committee.
Let us take a moment to remember all the religions represented in the Rotary family,
Let us also recall that when we were invited to join our Rotary clubs we were not asked
are you a Protestant, a Hindu, or a Muslim, a Jew, a Catholic or a Buddhist,
You were not asked because all religions are welcome in the Rotary family.
Please join me in a moment of reflection and thanks with these words
With our friends beside us,
And no person beneath us,
With the bonds of Rotary Between us,
And our worries behind us,
With our goals before us,
And no task beyond us,
With a thirst for knowledge,
And a dream of a Polio free world,
We are thankful for our Rotary friends.
This quote sparked a disclaimer by President Jill. If she wishes you a Merry Christmas, it is not because she is pushing her beliefs on you. In fact, it is because Jill loves and cares about you. The same would go if someone wished her Happy Hannukah. She would take that as a term of endearment. This is how we continue to promote peace to each other and across the world.
MEETING INFORMATION. This week - Pybus Event Center
GREETERS THIS WEEK - Ken Robertson, Mark Kulaas, Alfonso Lopez
The AAU Basketball Board is pleased to have Rotary partner with them.
There are two venues planned, one at Foothills Middle School and the second at John Newbery Elementary. Multiple games are scheduled for "Winter Magic" in December on the 16th, 17th, and 18th; and again for the "Steve Talbot Memorial" in January on the 13th, 14th, and 15th. We have been asked to help staff the admissions desks, and concession stands at both locations. We're looking to provide 2 volunteers at each station for two (2) hour blocks beginning at 8:00 am and ending at 8:00 pm each day.
Thanks to Matthew Michelson that his business Swire Coca Cola will provide products for the event!
