   ANNOUNCEMENTS AND NEWS

See previous editions of the Appleseed for other important notes
There was no regular meeting last week due to the Thanksgiving holiday.  Our most recent meeting was our monthly meeting of the Board of Directors (BOD) led by President Kory Kalahar, and attended by 12 of 19 board members on November 19.  Below is a brief summary of discussions.

Nominating committee led by PP Mike Kintner presented a slate of candidates for our club elections at the annual meeting scheduled for December 17. The slate was accepted with gratitude for the committee's efforts. The board hopes for a good turnout.  More info later.

Candidates for president 2023-24 :   Michelle Shermer, Dan Rodgers
Candidates for 3 directors, 2021-2024:  Ricardo Iniguez,  Sean Cooper,  Matthew Michelson,  Ken Robertson,  Tom Ross

The board accepted the resignation of 1 director, Trisha Johnson.  A replacement will be chosen at the next BOD meeting.
November financial statements were presented by treasurer Allan Galbraith, and approved.
Centennial plans for 2021 were presented by Kory, and discussed.
Continuing planning of a venue for future in-person meetings was discussed, since our Red Lion contract ends this year.

   UPCOMING PROGRAMS

DECEMBER 03 -  CLASSIFICATION TALK
With Ken Robertson
One of our newer members will tell us about himself, his career and family.   All new members are asked to make this presentation, and these are the favorite programs for many members.  Ken
joined the club November 7, 2019, sponsored by Allan Galbraith.

Ken's passion is road biking and bike touring. On July 1, 2019 he and his daughter, Julie, departed from Vancouver, BC on a self supported bicycle tour along the Pacific Coast, ending on July 31 in Monterey CA, where they spent four days.  He will tell the rest of the story.  He has been married to Heather for 44 years.  They have three children three grandchildren.   He loves being a grandfather!

He attended and graduated from WSU, and was on an Army ROTC scholarship and therefore had a four-year commitment upon graduation, which instead turned into a 20.5 year Army career, retiring as a Lt. Colonel.  His second career involved working for three Commonwealth of Virginia agencies in Richmond, for 23 years; 17 of those as a human resource director at the Virginia Employment Commission and the Virginia Retirement System.
