Rachel expressed deep appreciation to community donors, allowing the foundation to provide about $828K to the college in scholarship funds and programmatic and emergency assistance support this year.  She is proud of the campus community events arranged by the foundation, as well as alumni awards for which nominations are welcomed.  She also welcomes Rotarian support such as volunteering for campus events and scholarship evaluating.

COMMUNITY OUTREACH GRANTSJoe St. Jean explained how these grants have helped many community groups over the years and promised that the new grant information will be posted on our website very soon.  He thanked and named his excellent team and described some recent projects.  We currently have about $11,000 available to award with the average grant being between $200 - $2000.
The main source of these funds are from member dues and volunteering at the Town Toyota Center concessions.   This is an excellent opportunity to showcase Rotary and also have funds for Community Grants.   Applications will open on April 1.   See website for details.

In 2018, Wenatchee Rotary began corresponding with the founders of a larger group that is working to bring clean water to all of Haiti. HANWASH is an acronym for The Haiti National Clean Water, Sanitation & Hygiene Strategy. in 2019 the club committed to become a "Champion" of one of the first four pilot projects organized by this group, In 2022 We were approved for a Rotary Foundation Grant for the first phase of a water system in the Ferrier region!

This $490,000 grant will pay for a large well, pressure tank, chlorination system, and piped water to homes in the village of Artaud. Subsequent stages will extend the piped water to 4 other villages with a total of over 5,000 people getting potable water piped to their homes at less cost than they currently pay to fill jugs from a traveling water truck.

This photo is the first well site for HANWASH, and was taken just this month!
