Thoughts from President Alice
Alice Meyer

A Passion for Excellence
The push for power has come to shove.  And most of us are either pushing or being pushed.
There is a difference between a passion for excellence and a passion for power.  The desire for excellence is a gift.  Which is much needed in society.  It is characterized by respect for quality and a yearning to use your gifts.
Reflecting on these words reminds one that there is no “I” in team.  In other words, it is essential that we work together to achieve excellence. Thank you for being part of the Rotary TEAM and be sure to use your gifts.
May the road rise to meet you, may the wind blow at your back, may the sun shine warm upon your face, may the rain fall softly on your fields and until we meet again, may you keep safe.
Happy Thanksgiving.

Alice Meyer

---  DEAR APPLESAUCE  ---

EDITOR’S NOTE: Dear Readers, Dear Applesauce has taken the week off to spend time with love ones over the Thanksgiving Holiday (specifically, Dear Applesauce’s Plastic Surgeon and DA’s pooch, Pork Chop).   Filling in this week will be Dear Applesauce’s cousin Dear Cranberry Sauce.

Dear Cranberry Sauce:   What evolutionary advantage was obtained by cats due to their sitting on your lap so you cannot get up?
  --  Animal Lover

Dear A.L,   Since yours truly cares for 36 furry feline friends in a modest studio apartment, yours is the perfect first question for Dear Cranberry Sauce to answer. In short, I don’t really know. None of the 36 darling, little kitties in my abode will sit on my lap. In fact, they try to avoid me and actively try to escape the confines of my modest studio apartment whenever the opportunity arises.

Dear Cranberry Sauce:
What kind of childhood food did Pete Van Well eat to be able to stomach the menu items for consumption from the "What Would Pete Do?" challenges?
      -- Disgusted and Dismayed

Dear D&D,
I believe you are referring to a person Cousin Appie speaks most unkindly about. If his nickname is Triple P (Appie calls him something else, but I don’t think that nice Mr. Clifton would allow me to use such language in your lovely newsletter), then we are talking about the same person. Apparently, he was a frail newborn who could not nurse nor keep any type of formula down. The solution, one-half ounce soybean juice at a time from his bottle. Later, as a toddler, Appie told me, he would only eat potato chips. Appie says that it is not a coincidence that Lay’s became a Fortune 500 Company at the same time.

Dear Readers, Thank you for having me fill in this week. I remain at the ready if Cousin Appie takes another holiday and/or goes on a bender. Happy Thanksgiving!
Yours truly, Dear Cranberry Sauce
