OKTOBERFEST AT THE MYERS'
This month's Rotary fellowship event at the home of Don & Heidi Myers was a rousing success, as many Rotarians enjoyed a feast of beer and Don's special brats roasted on on the outdoor grille. We sat around a blazing fire where the air was cool but the conversation warm.
Mystery Rotarian. The second quarter competition is now underway; first-quarter winner was revealed as Russ Speidel who received 100 Pybus bucks. Last week's M/R was Angela Spies; this week it is Carin Smith. But many got the wrong answer due to an incorrect clue in the Appleseed. Get clues on the meeting PowerPoint; clues will have a different flavor this quarter.
October is Polio Month. PP Pete Van Well outlined plans for October 24, World Polio Day, and wants everyone involved, in collections at KPQ, and/or at the "World's Greatest Dinner to End Polio" potluck at the Senior Center. Contact Pete if you will attend. Jim Russell will be here.

GENEROUS DONORS REVEALED!
An incredibly generous grant of $26,000 is being made to the Wenatchee Rotary Club specifically for the Polio Plus campaign. The benefactors, who are beloved members of our Rotary family, have requested that these funds be leveraged by all clubs in District 5060 to spur individual Rotarians to consider their individual contributions for this worthy cause. To the benefactors we say- “Well Done- And Thank You!”. For our club members, please consider your individual contributions to RI. It would be great to honor this generous gift by matching it with individual contributions.
EVEN BIGGER NEWS! The same benefactors are also making substantial grants to District 5060 and to RI for a Guatemalan literacy program, totaling up to $101,000. These are remarkable acts of generosity that will impact the world. The generous donors have been revealed as Jim and Karen Russell!
This proves that once again- It’s a Great Day to be a Rotarian!
Karen Russell has passed away. Find out more on her personal Caring Bridge page.
PP Jim (2016-17) is an Honorary member. This is the most recent report. Jim plans to be with us on October 24.

Goal is $7500 for Rotary year
Note: We continue our 10-year relationship with the Gates Foundation. Since 2013, they have matched each dollar with $2 toward polio eradication.
