Program this weekCLASSIFICATION TALK
With Clover Simon

These talks are a cornerstone to our Rotary club and provide a great way to connect with each other.  You will not want to miss learning about one of our newer members.
Clover joined the club in June 2022, sponsored by Michelle Shermer.  She has her master’s in social work and has worked in non-profit service and management for over 30 years, primarily in reproductive health and poverty prevention. Clover has served on many non-profit boards including YWCA North Central WA, Reproductive Health Alliance, Family Planning of Wenatchee, NASW Alaska Chapter, and Planned Parenthood. Clover has two great kids, an amazing life partner and too many chickens to count. Clover's Rotary mentor is Bryan Campbell.

  • Polio - Karl praised our PP Pete Van Well, the district chair
  • Membership - The district lost many Rotarians during the pandemic. Plans are underway to reverse this negative trend.
  • Karl's big focus this year is the "reimagined" district conference and the pollinator gardens. He hopes all Rotarians will strongly support both.
    • Photo at right shows Karl promoting the pollinator gardens (his wife made the hat)
    • Michelle's Environmental Committee has done a great job promoting these gardens
    • Anyone can have a pollinator garden at home
    • Chelan Rotary is hoping to have 30 for their 30 pollinator promo signs
Karl asked who is attending the Melbourne RI Convention in June; he has committed to President Jones that we will have 50; we currently have 33 registered.
He also explained the deeper meanings of the annual theme logo.
He expects every local Rotarian to attend the "reimagined" District Conference in Leavenworth.

Karl asked a critical question:  "Are we merely involved in Rotary, OR are we committed Rotarians?  We have a great story to tell; let's tell it."
