Teddy Garcia spoke on short notice for Elvis Garcia, the Founder and Executive Director of the Elvis Garcia Foundation which believes that higher education is a basic human need and essential to a healthy democracy. Teddy and Elvis have had a passion for education scholarships since childhood, and are selling diversity banners now to support their cause.  The price begins at $150, and they will be displayed in downtown Wenatchee and East Wenatchee during June, and other cities in future years.  They are giving their first scholarship this year.  They believe that the banners are welcoming to all people who see them and make people feel safe.

ROTARY AT THE MOVIES.  Our local Gateway Theater is now showing an ad for the Rotary Clubs of the Wenatchee Valley.  Watch the video here.

Grace Van Well was honored on April 7 at the Washington State Senate with Senate Resolution 8625, where athletes, coaches, and volunteers of the 2022 national summer games were recognized in the Senate Chamber for their courage and achievements.  She and her family, and coach Stephanie toured the Senate with Senator Brad Hawkins.
Because of our love for Grace, her family, and her amazing achievements, the club is inducting her as an Honorary Member of Wenatchee Rotary.

ABOUT GRACE.  Grace Van Well was diagnosed with Autism Disorder at age 3. She attended school in Wenatchee and started participating in Special Olympics at age 11 in Speed Skating. That was quickly followed by swimming, figure skating, bowling, basketball, soccer and most recently, track. She began competitively swimming in middle school for the Pioneer Bears (where she also participated in Drill Team) and Velocity Swimming private swim club.

President Jill recognized and thanked those who helped sell concessions at recent TTC events.  More below.

I'm reaching out to you to see if you think any Rotary Club members might have any interest in volunteering for a race we are hosting, Devil’s Gulch, which is based out of Mission Ridge Ski Area on July 15.  We have operated most of our races consistently for several years now, although the Devils Gulch Race we acquired this year. It is our first truly impressive ultramarathon race, headlining with 50mi and 100mi options. There is also a half marathon.  We have a number of different roles available from helping out at aid stations to assisting with race registration. If anyone volunteers, they receive a free race entry for one of our races ..".     READ MORE
