The 3 speakers were introduced by our own Susan Albert, one of our most active and dedicated members. Each explained different aspects of the teacher grant program. See most of their PowerPoint images below.
The Foundation was formed in 2008 to support classroom learning by providing small but meaningful teacher grants to creative and innovative teachers in North Central Washington. In 2010, the foundation gave its first eight grants totaling $2,000. This year, the foundation awarded over 145 grants totaling $40,000. That’s a 18-fold increase in grants awarded in just ten years. This year we were delighted to award grants to teachers in 27 out of 29 districts in the North Central ESD region! See the 2019 NCEF Teacher Classroom Grant news release to learn more. For a list of teachers who received grants and a description of their projects see 2019 Teacher Classroom Grant Awards.
The hybrid meeting was opened and led by president Kory Kalahar, who welcomed members and guests, with Thomas Everly again at the technical controls. Kory reminded the team that all announcements are repeated in the Appleseed ("It's like one-stop shopping"!).

Carin Smith and PDG Sherry Chamberlain have been working hard on finessing this grant, with the tremendous support of Rotarian leaders in Haiti and throughout the US. We have also partnered with Haiti Outreach, a group with over 20 years of experience in Haiti water projects, and Operators Without Borders, a group that assists with water systems in developing countries through training and mentoring water operators
Not so stupid. Three years ago, my best friend’s mom and step dad were selling their boat. It was an older boat with wear and tear, but it ran great, looks good and is clean and function and super fast! None of us could really afford it outright and all had other priorities that we were putting our money toward. So, one of the not so stupid things I have done recently was to buy a BOAT with my two best friends and their families. This had added hours of enjoyment and activities to our lives from May to October and the fun keeps on going.
