AUGUST 15 - ROTARY SPEED DATING
with 5 Club members & President Mike
Rotary surveys show repeatedly that people join Rotary for two key reasons: (1) Fellowship/social connections; and (2) ability to make an impact of our community and our world.  You spoke very clearly at our strategic planning retreat last spring that a healthy Rotary club need lots of opportunity for our members to work together, to play together and to get to know each other better. For you seasoned Rotarians and for our welcomed newcomers alike, this week’s program is a great opportunity to learn a little about fellow Rotarians that you might not have otherwise.  This week, it’s all about the Elevator Speech.  You’ll have two minutes to tell your story- however you wish.  And your Rotary Speed-dating partner will have two minutes to tell their’s.  Who knows, you may just decide that two minutes isn’t enough-  and a lunch or after-work conversation over a beverage of choice might be in the works!  So buff up that Elevator Speech and let’s get to know our fellow Rotarians just a bit better!

The state of recycling in Wenatchee:  "What really happens
to the items you put in your blue bin and why you shouldn't be an aspirational recycler"

Sustainable Wenatchee is a 501(c)3 non-profit that promotes a culture of environmental stewardship and social sustainability in the Wenatchee Valley.
Our programs and events exist to educate and inspire.
We have annual events such as the Sustainable Wenatchee Earth Day Fair in April and the NCW EcoChallenge in May. We offer classes and workshops throughout the year on topics such as Zero Waste, Eco-Parenting / Modern Cloth Diapering and Homesteading. Our Tread Lightly Friday program started it all, and continues to offer discounts throughout the valley every Friday when you act sustainabily. If you share our passion for environmental stewardship, be sure to join us every third Thursday for Wenatchee Valley Green Drinks!

End Polio Now/Club 60:      Our goal this year is $7500, in spite of the secretary's erroneous report of no goal.  On August 08, Club-60-cup donations were $41.93 bringing our total to $172 or $516 with the Gates match!  This equates to 861 lives potentially saved!
Goal is $7500 for Rotary year

Note:  We continue our 10-year relationship with the Gates Foundation.  Since 2013, they have matched each dollar with $2 toward polio eradication.
