Rotary charge by PP Judy Conner 9-8-22
THE CHARGE TO NEW MEMBERS.  On September 8, 2022, PP Judy Conner gave this excellent to charge to the new members and to all members as well.

Gentlemen you are privileged to begin your Rotary membership under the First Women Rotary International President, Jennifer Jones, from Canada. So, in preparing for this charge, I borrowed a small quote from her message in a recent Rotary magazine.  Quote “We’ve all taken our own path to become a member of Rotary.  Some of you joined because your father was a Rotarian.  Some of us signed up because an employer tapped us on the shoulder and asked us to attend a meeting.  Others became members only after a US Supreme Court ruling made it possible.  Yet each of us entered through one mechanism – an invitation.”

Speaking to the task of increasing our membership, she challenges us to look across the community and identify our future leaders.  It’s often tempting to attract people who are exactly like us.  The challenge is to look past our comfort zone and embrace diversity and inclusion.  Inclusion makes meeting and events - places where we can speak openly and honestly with each other, and where our members can feel welcome and safe.

Nathan, you were invited to Rotary by Russ Spiedel and Alfonzo, you were sponsored by Kory Kalahar.  Alfonzo, you are no stranger to this club and Nathan, you too have been exposed to Rotary – I challenge you to make your first commitment to Rotary - INVITE someone to share your Rotary membership.  You are joining a very rich Rotary Club.  I don’t mean rich with money; I mean rich with history.  You are joining Rotary Club # 815, chartered in 1921.  That’s  # 815th out of the current 46,000 clubs across the world.  In comparison Wenatchee Sunrise is 23,387th. This Wenatchee Rotary club sponsored all of the local clubs in this area.  We are so privileged to be the home club of a past Rotary International President, Ed Cadman (there have only been a little over 100 Rotary International Presidents).  What an honor!  We have sponsored multiple district governors.  We have absolutely wonderful past club presidents.  And now we have YOU!  I challenge you, and all the rest of our more seasoned members to share the Rotary experience by sponsoring a new member.
