Tony was sponsored and introduced by Carin Smith. Representing the Central chapter of Evergreen Mountain Bike Alliance, Tony explained how the non-profit Organization focuses on mountain bike advocacy, educating riders of all abilities, especially youth, and building and maintaining sustainable trails in the greater Wenatchee Valley area, a region stretching from Leavenworth to Chelan which includes some of the best riding in the state! The alliance is the largest statewide mountain biking organization in the nation with about 10,000 members statewide. It is made up of 8 regions and chapters, where Tony serves as Board VP for the North Cascades Region. The central chapter has 829 members, with a high level of member to population ratio. New Program EarlyAct Club- Input Needed
Let me introduce you to Allan and Christian. They are students at Pinnacle Prep Charter School in Wenatchee.
These two boys wanted to learn how to give haircuts, they found a barber to mentor and teach them how to cut hair.
Allan and Christian now spend some of their Saturdays at Lighthouse Ministry giving free haircuts.
How incredible is that??!! This is the youth we need in our community and future. We can cultivate more of this.
PP Alice Meyer will be giving a short presentation on a new program to implement a partnership with Pinnacle Prep. Alice and her team are looking to start an EarlyAct Club. This is similar to Interact but for grades 6-9.
President Gary is asking for club support to approve Alice moving forward and create an EarlyAct Club at Pinnacle Prep.
An email vote will be sent to all active members on Thursday afternoon.
EarlyAct is not an official program on Rotary International yet. This does not stop a school from starting an EarlyAct Club for anyone grades 6-9. All requirements for an EarlyAct charter are the same as for an Interact Club.
Alice will serve as the liaison for EarlyAct and will encourage club members to commit to mentoring and volunteering with the students.
The Rotary Clubs of the Greater Wenatchee Valley are sponsoring the Environmental Series at the Wenatchee Valley Museum and Cultural Center.
Stewart Udall: The Politics of Beauty
Please join us on Thursday, September 24th, between 3-5 PM, for our Environmental Film Series!
After the screening, attendees can participate in a Q&A session with the filmmaker John de Graaf.
This feature documentary examines the trajectory of Stewart Udall’s life, starting from his childhood to his Mormon mission, his World War II service, his student years at the University of Arizona, his time in Congress, and most significantly his years as Secretary of the Interior and beyond.
As reported a few weeks ago, Ken Robertson was the highest bidder for a condo in West Kelowna donated by Susan Albert.
Ken's bid helped him achieve a Paul Harris Fellow+1 (PHF+1).
The Rotary International Committee has incentives available to help you achieve a PHF quicker. At any rate, any and all donations help us do good in the world.
At the meeting, TRF Chair, Frank Clifton, encouraged all members to donate a minimum of $25 during the Rotary year. One of the committee's goals is to become a EREY club.
Now is the time to sign up to have some fun, volunteer, and earn money for the causes we support. There is a high demand for September 9, 22 and 23. This is the kickoff to the new hockey season, and it is sure to be busy!
There are some requirements and training dates listed in the FAQ's link below.
