Compassion is a powerful path to the good life both personally and collectively. The ancients knew this and science is re-discovering it. Through education and practice, we can overcome fears, ignorance, and distractions to reclaim compassion and enjoy its incredible benefits.
This presentation uses storytelling and science to explain what compassion is and isn’t and its hidden blockers. Advice, in the form of three tips given to an aspiring minister and bartender, can cultivate and keep a wise, compassionate mindset.

SERVICE PROJECT.  BRUCE HOTEL WRC BBQ, June 16.
Reported by P/E Gary Provo.
A great time was had by all on Friday, June 16 at the WRC Bruce Hotel.   The crew of Rotarians hosted BBQ for the families at the Bruce Hotel  Thank you to  Dante Gutierez-Zamora, Thomas Everly, Jill Leonard, Roberta Alley, Reuben Mayes, Jane Provo, Kevin Litterell, and Lee Alley.  Over 80 residents, including 30 children, munched on hot dogs, hamburgers, chips, apple slices and Otter Pops.  A special thank-you to Matthew Michelsen and Swire Coca Cola providing plenty of refreshing Swire Coca-Cola beverages.
Many of the children were particularly delighted by the extensive crate of Legos that Thomas brought.  Their attention was captured throughout the event.

Finally, numerous parents expressed their deep gratitude for the Camp scholarships that Rotary's Community Outreach committee awarded earlier in the week.  Many stopped by during the closing to thank the team for helping them celebrate with the BBQ.
Once again, we insist on having fun while being of service.

ROTARY YOUTH EXCHANGE.  Are you a peace builder?   Interested in being a positive influence in the world?
The Youth Exchange Committee is actively looking for host families for the 2023-2024 Rotary year. Youth Exchange is one of the best ways to promote peace across the world!    You are not required to host the entire year but a small portion.    What a fun time to share the beauty of Wenatchee Valley and life in an American family.    Reach out to Brett Riley or Alice Meyer for any questions or to commit.

FORaMeal is a local Melbourne Rotary club project that assembles food packets to be shipped to Sri Lanka as support.  These packets are made of rice, oatmeal, lentils, and a flavor packet.   They are sealed and boxed up.   Members of the community help assemble the packets throughout the year.
During the RI convention, with the help of attendees and the Melbourne Community over 175,000 packets were assembled, and over 75,000 of those were assembled in the House of Friendship by Rotarians.

QUOTE OF THE WEEK.   " I can’t even describe the feelings in my stomach right now. It’s everything you could imagine. "     -Mark Stone, Vegas Knights Stanley Cup Winner.
Side note- Stone is the fourth player in NHL history with a hat trick for a team playing in a potential Cup-clinching game, the last time this happened with in 1922 with Babe Dye.
